MY BODY…NOT MY CHOICE

Women are denied body autonomy and experience body oppression in many, many ways. “My Body…Not My Choice” gives women the opportunity to safely and anonymously share their stories.   Help others by sharing your story.

For a woman, “My body, not my choice” can mean so many different things.  It is a good bet that every person that identifies as a woman has at least one story that fits this description.  The sad truth is that most women have, or will have in her lifetime, multiple stories of many types that fit this description.

Yet, we often feel very alone. Sharing our stories can help us process and empower us.  Reading the stories of others can also help us process, empower us, and make us feel less alone.

Types of stories:

Obviously sexual assault is an all-too frequent occurrence in the lives of women, and is absolutely a story you can share here.

However, women suffer body oppression in so many different ways.  From over stringent purity expectations, harsh dress codes, to forced or unwanted pregnancies and births (unavailable abortions), forced abortions, and forced or unwanted marriages (which can happen both to young girls and adult women).  Women also face body oppression due to weight, gender, and race/ethnicity/skin tone.

You can share up to THREE body oppression stories.
